WHAT ARE YOU FEEDING YOURSELF?

Updated: Feb 6, 2023

I was in a pleasant conversation with a friend who lives on a farm. he shared how one of his goats had babies. they were very excited. The morning of the birth he continued to check on the mother. she had 2 and he watched her have the 3rd. He was very excited. a few days later, he checked on the goats and found that two of the baby goats died. he was pretty hurt and sad. so he took the third to the vet to have it examined. he wanted to do everything he could to save it. He fed it and the baby goat took to it. then after a while the goat stopped feeding. eventually it died. After some investigation, they discovered the goat had a deformity inside its mouth and it affected its feeding. digging further, they discovered the mother goat ate a poisonous flower. this impacted her pregnancy and caused deformity of the baby goats. they had a cleft inside the mouth and was unable to feed so they starved. It was very sad.

  • Later that day I pondered on the conversation with my friend. It is of great importance that we be mindful of what we feed ourselves. It can have a detrimental impact on what we produce. What are you digesting daily? What are you feeding your mind and body? Your mind is the command center of what you are producing in this world. It is through your thoughts and emotions that influence how you respond in relationships and situations. Psalm 139. 23-24. Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties; And see if there is any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting. What you digest in your mind and heart will impact vision for your life. Is your vision, cloudy or is it very clear? Is it shaded by inferiority, fear, vanity, lust, pride, superiority or arrogance? Do you see through the lens of love, peace, purity and joy? or is it hatred, turmoil and sadness? You control what and how you see it. Be mindful what you expose yourself and family to. It may become detrimental to what you want to produce in the future. What you feed on now will determine what type of leader, spouse, role model, parent, etc, you will be in the future. The advantage you have over the goat is you are created in the image of God and you have the ability of making wise choices. The amazing truth is if you don't know, God is right there for you to provide the answers. Proverbs tells us in if you acknowledge God before every decision, He will direct your paths. (ref. Proverbs 3.5,6.) Jesus will guide you. Holy Spirit is your Helper. The bible says, if any of you lack wisdom ask. That is your advantage. This is the benefits you have in relationship with God your Father. Call to Action:

  • Examine your thoughts. Pray and ask the Father to search your heart and see what you need to eliminate from your life. Check them with the scriptures. Are your thoughts and emotions holy?

  • Repent and ask for forgiveness. Cleanse your mind and heart with the word of God.

  • Feed on the right stuff. Feed on the word of God. Replenish your soul and spirit with the scriptures and transform your thoughts and emotions.

  • Walk out what you feed on. Live the transformed life you are designed to live
