God is love and this scripture admonishes you and I to be reflect God in this world. You must strive to "Be Love" and show forth the love of God.
1John 4.16,17. And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love and he who abides in love abides in God and God in him. 17 Love has been perfected among us in this that we may have boldness in the day of judgment, because as He is so are we in this world.
One of the elements of God’s love. It is being “slow to anger or wrath”.
James 1.19 So then my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak and slow to wrath.
Wrath is vengeful anger. For you to be like God on earth, you must follow the example of Jesus. Jesus was sent not only to die but to show you how to live and sent His spirit to live in you to guide and help you live fulfilling the will of the Father. Read the following scriptures about God's anger.
Read the scriptures below:
Psalms 103.8 The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in mercy.
Psalms 145.8. The Lord is gracious and full of compassion, slow to anger and great in mercy.
Nahum 1.3 The Lord is slow to anger and great in power.
Joel 2.13. Rend your heart and not your garments. Return to the Lord your God, for he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love and he relents from sending calamity.
You see as God is slow to anger, He also abounds in mercy and compassion. God has equipped you with His Holy Spirit to empower you to walk in His character. Many believers desire to perform signs and wonders but do not seek the character of God that is provided through Jesus Christ.
Ephesians 5.1,2. Therefore be imitators of God as dear children and walk in love as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling aroma.
Beloved, you are God’s image bearer, therefore God wants to see His loving character displayed in this world THROUGH YOU. This is how He is glorified.
Proverbs 14.29. He who is slow to wrath has great understanding but he who is impulsive exalts foolishness.
Proverbs 15.18, A hot-tempered person stirs up conflict, but the one who is patient calms a quarrel.
James 1.19,20… Be slow to wrath, for the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God
